Modes of Instruction

To meet the needs of a diverse faculty various modes of instruction are used for professional development opportunities.  Within each mode, care is used to maintain effective pedagogy and collaboration. In asynchronous modes of instruction participants will be encouraged to contribute to discussion forums or other collaborative exercises.

Synchronous Asynchronous
face2face Instruction which occurs “in person” and in real time between teachers and students or among colleagues and peers (I) --
online Instruction in which teachers and students engage in learning using chat and video-conferencing in real time (SO) Independent, self-paced learning which involves coursework delivered via web, email and message boards (AO)
hybrid Real time instruction which has both “in person” and “online” components (H) Real time instruction either in-person or online with independent learning resources (AH)
