Academic Search Complete Description

Academic Search Complete is one of the most comprehensive, multidisciplinary databases available providing full-text access to scholarly materials.  This database is a leading source of peer-reviewed, full-text research in the STM, Social Sciences, and Humanities disciplines.  Coverage includes many sources that are not available in other databases.  Content includes 9,000 full-text journals, and nearly 14,000 indexed and abstracted journals.  Much of this content is available in PDF format and dates from as far back as 1887.

Academic Search Complete provides coverage of a broad range of subject areas, making it a wonderful starting point for research on nearly any topic.  Subject areas include:  anthropology, biology, chemistry, engineering, ethnic and multicultural studies, geography, law, mathematics, music, physics, psychology, religion and philosophy, and many more.

Academic Search Complete has an extremely user-friendly interface with useful search features that help make researching your topic easier.  Among the most helpful of the search fields available are All Text, Author, Title, and Subject Terms.  Searches may be limited to Full-Text, Scholarly (Peer-Reviewed) Journals, Publication Type, Document Type, Language and Publication Date.  Search results pages provide access to citation information, and item subject terms.  Full-Text results also provide access to PDF or HTML formats of the item.

Clicking on the Title of a result will provide additional information about the item, including complete citation information.  Additionally, a list of subject terms discussed in the document is provided.  These subject terms can be useful when brainstorming for alternative search terms to use for your topic.  If you find a subject term that is interesting, simply click it and the database will perform a new search for the selected subject term.  A short abstract of the item is also included, providing an overview of the items content.  These abstracts can be useful when determining if the items content meets your research needs.

As with all EBSCOhost databases, Academic Search Complete offers search options that allow users to refine searches to meet individualized needs. Academic Search Complete's comprehensive coverage of such a vast array of topics, including both scholarly and popular materials, makes it an ideal resource for students and faculty alike.
